It’s Waste Reduction Week: Recycle Unwanted Electronics and Clothing at 14 Mississauga Facilities

For a second year, the City of Mississauga is participating in Partners in Project Green’sRecycling Collection Drive in support of Waste Reduction Week in Canada, October 16 to 22. Throughout the week, Mississauga residents and City employees can drop off unwanted electronics and gently-used clothing to 14 City facilities across Mississauga at no charge.

In 2016, the City collected 4,300 kilograms of waste, accounting for over 60 per cent of the total waste gathered. That’s equivalent to the weight of 39 black bears, 2,150 laptops or 187 full garbage bags of family waste.

More Details about the Recycling Collection Drive

  • The 2016 Recycling Collection Drive was the first for Partners in Project Green.
  • The initiative was part of Partners in Project Green’s ongoing waste management program called Material Exchange.
  • Along with the City, there will be a total of 23 organizations with over 70 drop-off locations participating in this year’s drive throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
  • Electronic items will be recycled by Ontario Electronic Stewardship. Clothing items will be reused and recycled by Diabetes Canada.
