Older Adults Celebrate Grand Opening Week of New Centre

Mississauga, ON- The Active Adult Centre of Mississauga (AACM) invites community members and guests to join them, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 – Friday, January 19, 2018, for a fun filled week in celebration of their Grand Opening in their new home at the Central Parkway Mall.

Visitors will have the opportunity to win daily door prizes, enjoy refreshments, tour the new facility and take home free giveaways.

“This week will be a monumental moment for us, highlighting some of the best classes we have to offer,” says Laura Surman, Programs Coordinator. “It’s our goal to connect seniors in the community and with our new location we’re hoping to reach even more people than we did before.”

Chartwell retirement residences, along with several other community sponsors, have contributed to the fruition of this week-long event and hope to aid them in their outreach.

Older adults, ages 50+, can take part in free classes on Tuesday, January 16th as early as 9:00 a.m. or sample one of our many new evening classes geared towards individuals still in the workforce.

“This move has been a long time coming,” says Joan Crews, Board President of AACM. “It’s our partnership with the City of Mississauga that has really helped to lift this project off its feet, and for that we are grateful.”

As part of the City of Mississauga’s promise to invest in an aging population, they have partnered with AACM to update their current resources, and provide their members with a brand new facility.

With over 80 diverse, weekly programs focused on socialization, health/wellness, recreation, and education we are confident our centre will reach new heights in its new space.
