When WordPress 3.0 was released it had been merged with the previously developed WPMU (WordPress Multi-User) project. Big deal, right?
Actually, yes. WPMU has long provided the capability to have multiple blogs running off a single installation of WordPress but it was a bit of a bear to install, configure and keep updated.
With WordPress itself now having this functionality right ‘out of the box’ as they say, things really couldn’t be easier.
That’s when we made the decision to install WordPress on my missy mag. We’ve always been a Joomla joint, but to be perfectly honest Joomla is not at all the user friendliest piece of software out there. It is extremely powerful and runs all of our sites (mymississauga.ca, portcredit.ca, streetsville.ca and clarkson.ca), however the learning curve is steep.
On the other hand, WordPress offers a nice balance of functionality and ease of use. It’s really is a Content Management System that’s easy to pick up and use.
Which brings us to the headline above. We’re about to launch our latest product offering and we’re looking for an indie band in town interested in testing it out in exchange for a (permanently) FREE WordPress 3.0 blog — including hosting and a whole lot more freebies! — right here on my missy mag.
If that’s you, please drop us a line. If you know someone, please forward them a link to this entry.
