Mississauga, ON - The Living Arts Centre announces a special Valentine's Day evening that includes a performance of Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet's production of Moulin Rouge - THE BALLET, in Hammerson Hall, on Monday, February 14, 2011. Ticket buyers can complement their evening with a preperformance dinner or post-show dessert at its Living Restaurant.
Moulin Rouge - THE BALLET a new full-length story ballet choreographed by Jorden Morris, marks the return of Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) to Southern Ontario for the first time in almost a decade. This production will also be performed in Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, and London.
MOULIN ROUGE - THE BALLET features high-kicking choreography, a lusty French soundtrack and a tragic tale of love. The coquettish Nathalie dreams of life as a Moulin Rouge® dancer; the young artist Matthew steals her heart but loses his; the conniving club owner Zidler wants Nathalie all to himself; and all the while, Toulouse-Lautrec is busy painting and drinking absinthe.
Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet is the first North American ballet company to receive the legendary Montmartre cabaret's stamp of approval, granting them official use of the Moulin Rouge® trademark.
