The Mule is Mississauga's Ultimate List of Events

MISSISSAUGA, ON - Emerging vocalists are set to rock the mic at the Singfest Vocal Competition's Semi-Final Round on Thursday, June 21st. The event will begin promptly at 6 p.m. at the Maja Prentice Theatre located at 3650 Dixie Rd. in Mississauga. Cover charge is $7 at the door.

Produced the Rotaract Club of Mississauga in partnership with the Mississauga Arts Council, the competition gives emerging vocalists between the ages of 14 to 24 an opportunity to compete for a chance to become the next SingFest Star! Winning the competition is a major career break as it includes studio recording time at Metalworks, press coverage, a complimentary vocal session with professional singer and teacher Carolyn Lykkemark, prizes and so much more!

"We know Mississauga is a hot-bed of up-and-coming vocal talent," explains Linda Thomas, Executive Director of the Mississauga Arts Council. "We invite all emerging vocalists to take advantage of this amazing opportunity to hone their talents and win the title of the 2012 Singfest Star. Participating in the competition is an unforgettable experience that will positively impact the career of any young performer."

The Rotaract Singfest is disseminated over two rounds. The top 40 contestants have been selected to perform at the Semi-Final Round where a panel of professional judges will decide which contestants move on to the next round. Judges include MARTY Award winning Blues performer Johnny Max and the celebrated singer Carolyn Lykkemark. Following the Semi-Final Round, the top 20 contestants will perform and compete at the Finals to be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 during the Amacon Rotary Ribfest Competition at Mississauga Celebration Square.
