Celebrations begin with a two-day Festival at Mississauga Celebration Square, ending on the third day with the TD IRIE Boat Cruise in Toronto.
Join the celebration of music — from Reggae, Soca, African and dance from across the African and Caribbean Diaspora – the TD IRIE Music Festival is excited to welcome visitors to another great cultural experience with tasty tropical foods, arts and crafts, a licensed bar and more.
This exciting two-day festival runs from June 21 to June 22, 2019 at Celebration Square, next door to Square One in Mississauga. TD IRIE Music Festival is free to the public and is wheelchair accessible.
International headliners include living legend and Grammy nominated reggae and dancehall singer, Junior Reid. Best known for the classic tunes, “One Blood”, and “This Is Why I’m Hot”, Reid is a prolific solo artist and former lead singer for Black Uhuru. He performs along with dj/producer and Master Remixer,DJ Power, on Friday, June 21st at Mississauga Celebration Square.
Trinidadian Soca star, Farmer Nappy takes over the stage on Saturday, June 22nd. His catalogue of hits stretches back to his work with Machel Mantano and the band, Xtatik. Solo successes include “Big People Party,” “My House,” and his latest mega hit, “Hookin Meh”.
Canadian talents include Level Exodus featuring Jaxx with his new hit single, “Perform;” Canadian Caribbean icons Slim Flex, D’Enforcas Sound Crew, DJ Carl Allen and more. Stay tuned for other performers to be announced.
Dance groups are essential to TD IRIE Fest’s presentation and will include the 2019 Summer Showcase by dance Immersion, a dance umbrella organization. Performers include: Artists in Motion, Mabinty Sylla, Rodney Diverlus,Shavar Blackwood and EDIFY: Elite Dance Initiative for Youth.
Dance Immersion is recognized for its exemplary work for 25 years in producing, promoting and showcasing dancers of the African Diaspora.
Our audience will be treated to a variety of dancers and dance companies reflecting dances from across the Diaspora from dance Immersion and other community dance companies.
Don’t miss the second annual IRIE Fest Jerk Food competition for the Best Jerk. The winner will receive a trophy and bragging rights for a year for their culinary excellence.
TD IRIE Boat Cruise, Sunday June 23rd
The IRIE celebration will continue Sunday afternoon aboard the Yankee Lady III with the annual TD IRIE Fest Boat Cruise. The cruise on Lake Ontario will feature Reggae, Soca, R&B/Soul and Afro Groove with some of the City’s top djs including Toronto’s legendary DJ Carl Allen; International Ambassadors of Caribbean Music and Canada’s #1 Soca Sound Crew, the D’Enforcas and Reggae & Dancehall Specialist, DJ Spida, who will keep the party jumping.
