Next week, Mississauga will celebrate Ontario Public Library Week – October 18 to 24, a week that recognizes the important contributions Ontario public libraries make to education, literacy and life-long learning. As part of the celebration, the Mississauga Library System will also unveil its refreshed website design and will host a variety of family-friendly activities, including The World Story Time Festival: stories, rhymes, songs and activities in languages from around the world. Mary Grisey | Sung from the Mouth of Cumae
This immersive fibre, ceramic and sound installation references the Cumean Sibyl, a Greek oracle who was said to have sung prophecies from the mouth of a cave. Using destructive processes on woven textiles, Grisey evokes the effects of time and decay on landscape, history and mythology.
