Immerse yourself in some Canadian Art History by joining Visual Arts Mississauga (VAM) at Riverwood as it presents two exhibitions featuring artists in the ‘third chapter’ of their lives.

For the first time, 88 year-old Ron Lambert, heralded as one of Canada’s first abstract artists of his generation, will present Summer of ’47 Paintings by Ron Lambert at Visual Arts Mississauga. Lamberts’ magnificent works will be displayed from February 27 to 28, 2016. An Opening Reception will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1 pm.

Summer of ’47 Paintings by Ron Lambert captures a special moment in time when Lambert was a student of the legendary German-American art modernist Hans Hofmann. During this breakthrough period, Lambert created a stunning portfolio of paintings that were inspired by Hofmann’s famous ‘Friday critiques’. Sixty-nine years later, he is publicly showing his carefully preserved works that were created during this time. Lambert was only 16 years of age when his painting Oshawa Harbour was purchased by the Art Gallery of Ontario’s permanent collection.
